oil on paper, 15 x 22 inches, 2002 Collection of Colleen Owsiany Schwemler
I have painted or done pastels from nearly every point of the compass at Pamet harbor in Truro, Massachusetts.
I have painted the marsh and river leading to the harbor, the outlet into the bay, and seawall at the
harbor entrance. It is a place with endless possibilities for painting. Every time we visit Cape Cod, I can’t wait to go back
and find more views.
This painting is larger than I normally work and took two sittings to complete. The second day I was
out several people on horses were galloping back and forth though the shallow water of the marsh and
empty harbor. The riders and horses looked like they were having so much fun that it was difficult to
concentrate on the painting, but was a really pleasant distraction.
