Corson's Inlet
oil on paper, 11 x 15 inches, 2005
Collection of Milay Galvez & David Anker
Corson’s Inlet Beach is part of the Belleplain State Forest in New Jersey, just south of Ocean City.
There is a beautiful beach and nature trail there, quite unlike the rest of the crowded Jersey shore.
To get to the beach you must walk about a half mile through the wooded dunes. The day we went there was
quite a bit of wildlife about: the sandy trail was covered in toads that would hop out of your way as you walked,
foxes hunted in the dunes, and we encountered some of the largest mosquitoes I have ever seen.
We went with a group of friends, including fellow artist Nathan Rutkowski,
to paint and picnic in early summer. I painted this view of the inlet and Stathmere to
the south while Nathan went further down the beach and did a watercolor.
