No. 8762 (Mütter Museum)
pen and ink drawing, 7 x 4 inches, 2008
This is a sketch of a 19th-century French neo-classical sculpture weirdly altered to display a large tumor of the parotid gland. The Mütter Museum has another striking example of this strange exercise in artistic appropriation: a sculpture of the infant Christ with large tumors on the buttocks.
