I stayed late at work a couple of nights to paint this view of Philadelphia from the conference room facing west.
From the height of the 13th floor the distance gets compressed and distorted in strange ways. I have been told that the hill
at the horizon is Roxborough, the small white dots at the left of the painting are smoke or steam
from the refinery along the highway near the Philadelphia International Airport, and the yellow
patches in the lower right are the skylights in the roof of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
I love looking at this view out the window and trying to figure out what or where everything is.
