I returned to the Old Greenwich Yard with friend and artist Ed Bronstein for some early
morning painting. Knowing that Ed enjoyed painting industrial sites as much as I did, I thought he would like to see and paint the
Old Greenwich Yard before it's gone. We met at 8:00 A.M. and were set up on site and painting by 8:30. We had a beautiful morning,
bright sunshine and temperatures in the upper 40s, each of us with our thermos of coffee to help us
keep warm.
Ed focused on the conveyor tower while I turned my attention to the pump house along the railroad siding.
It was great to be out painting with another landscape painter who works in oils. I watched Ed lay
in some brush marks along the horizon line that gave the sense of depth and color of the early
morning light. I tried the same type of mark along the horizon in the area to the left and in
between the legs of the water tower. I was very pleased with the results.
