On 25 January 2000, a major blizzard struck Philadelphia, dumping 20+ inches of snow and shutting down the city for several days
— and postponing the settlement date on our home in South Philadelphia. Gathering food, beer
and videos, we holed up with friends to wait out the storm. I quickly sketched this portrait of Kate
while she lay on our friend's couch. I later photocopied the drawing and transferred it to a pine plank to create this woodcut.
